Hi Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has issued a directive to recruit 1,000 Emirati citizens into various government positions by 2026 in a major step to expand national employment opportunities.
The announcement was made by Abdullah Ibrahim Al Zaabi, Head of the Sharjah Department of Human Resources, during an interview on the Direct Line programme broadcast on Sharjah Television and Radio. He confirmed that the recruitment plan has received official approval and that job interviews are slated to begin on Monday following the announcement.
This initiative forms part of Sharjah’s ongoing efforts to support Emirati talent, enhance workforce participation, and strengthen government capacity. By opening as many as 1,000 roles across government departments before the end of 2026, authorities aim to increase meaningful job opportunities for UAE nationals and encourage long-term career development.
Officials have highlighted that the recruitment drive will prioritise a range of job categories suited to diverse educational and professional backgrounds. Prospective candidates are expected to undergo standard interview and selection procedures as part of the transparent employment process.
The announcement follows earlier Sharjah employment initiatives, including plans for national cadre employment and training programmes designed to prepare citizens for government roles. These efforts underscore a sustained commitment to integrating skilled Emiratis into public sector services and fostering sustainable workforce growth across the emirate.
