RTA transported 2.8 million people on New Year’s Eve

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) successfully transported around 2.8 million passengers across its public transport network during New Year’s Eve celebrations, marking one of the busiest nights of the year for mobility services in the emirate.
The figure includes passengers using the Dubai Metro (Red and Green Lines), Dubai Tram, public buses, marine transport services, and taxis. Extended operating hours, increased service frequency, and integrated traffic management plans helped ensure smooth movement as thousands of residents and visitors gathered at major celebration hotspots, including Downtown Dubai and waterfront areas.
RTA said it implemented a comprehensive operational plan in coordination with police and other government entities to manage large crowds and maintain safety. Additional trains and buses were deployed, while staff and inspection teams were stationed at key locations to assist passengers and regulate passenger flow.
The authority noted that public transport remained the preferred option for many revelers, helping to reduce traffic congestion and support road safety during the festivities. Smart traffic systems and real-time monitoring also played a key role in managing road networks and ensuring efficient access to event areas.
RTA reaffirmed its commitment to providing safe, reliable, and sustainable transport services, especially during major national and international events, and encouraged the public to continue using mass transit for large-scale celebrations in the future.
