NOIDA, JANUARY 4, 2026 — In a tragic incident that has shocked the residents of Noida, a senior official of the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) died on Saturday after falling from the 17th floor of a high-rise residential building in Sector 104.
The deceased has been identified as Ajay Garg (55), who served as the Executive Director (Gas and Business Development) at IOCL’s Delhi headquarters. The incident occurred at the ATS One Hamlet society around 10:20 AM.
Sequence of Events
According to preliminary police investigations, Mr. Garg was at home with his wife, Mayuri, when the tragedy unfolded. Reports suggest that he was attempting to attend a phone call but was struggling with weak mobile network connectivity inside the flat.
- The Fall: Seeking better reception, Mr. Garg reportedly stepped onto the balcony. Moments later, he fell from the 17th-floor height.
- Discovery: Residents of the society heard a loud thud and found him lying motionless on the ground. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Sector 110, where he was declared dead on arrival.
- Police Response: Senior officials from the Noida Police reached the spot shortly after the incident. While the initial probe points toward an accidental fall while searching for a signal, authorities are not ruling out any possibilities.

”We are examining all possible angles, including whether it was an accident or otherwise. CCTV footage from the society is being scanned to reconstruct the timeline,” a senior police official stated.
No suicide note was recovered from the premises, and family members have reportedly told police there were no signs of distress or self-harm prior to the incident. Mr. Garg was originally from Kanpur; his son currently works in Mumbai and has been informed of the tragedy.
