A woman was allegedly assaulted inside a moving van on a foggy night along the Gurgaon–Faridabad road, prompting swift police action and renewed concerns over women’s safety on highways in the National Capital Region (NCR).
According to police, the incident occurred late at night when the woman was travelling through the stretch amid low visibility caused by dense fog. She alleged that she was attacked inside the vehicle by the driver and an accomplice, who took advantage of the isolated road conditions. The woman later managed to alert authorities after reaching a safe location.
Police said a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including charges related to assault and criminal intimidation. The victim was taken for a medical examination, and her statement has been recorded. Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from toll plazas and nearby roads to trace the movement of the van and identify those involved.
Senior police officials said teams have been formed to track down the suspects, and efforts are underway to locate the vehicle based on details provided by the victim. Authorities have also appealed to the public to share any information that could assist in the investigation.
The incident has once again highlighted safety concerns for women travelling at night, particularly during winter months when fog reduces visibility. Police have urged commuters to remain cautious, share travel details with trusted contacts, and use verified transport services.
