Dubai Police have arrested a motorist accused of driving under the influence of alcohol and causing a serious traffic accident, authorities said. The incident occurred on a busy city road, leading to damage to multiple vehicles and injuries to several people.
According to police, the driver lost control of the car due to intoxication and rammed into other vehicles before coming to a halt. Emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene, and the injured were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. Their conditions were described as stable.
Preliminary investigations confirmed that the driver was under the influence at the time of the crash. The suspect has been taken into custody and will be referred to the public prosecution for further legal action.
Under UAE law, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is a serious offence and carries strict penalties, including heavy fines, possible imprisonment, suspension of driving privileges, vehicle confiscation, and deportation for expatriates. If intoxicated driving results in injuries or fatalities, the penalties become even more severe.
